Accessibility Conformance Report
About this report
| Name of product and version | The cRUD Company website (thecrudcompany.com), build of 15 September 2026: 65 pages |
|---|---|
| Report date | 15 September 2026 |
| Product description | The public website of The cRUD Company: company information, cRUD Webinar and cRUD Collab product pages, pricing, comparisons, resources, the Trust Center and its policies, and the contact form. |
| Contact information | hello@thecrudcompany.com |
| Notes | This report covers the website only. It does not cover the cRUD Webinar application. The contact form sends messages to a form-handling service that has no user interface of its own. |
| Evaluation methods used | Self-assessment by The cRUD Company; not an independent third-party audit. Methods are listed in the next section. |
Evaluation methods used
- Automated testing with axe-core 4.10.2, WCAG 2.0, 2.1 and 2.2 Level A and AA rules, on all 65 pages at 1280 CSS pixels.
- Scripted checks in Chrome on all 65 pages: keyboard Tab traversal with focus-indicator and focus-obscured checks, reflow at 320 CSS pixels, WCAG text spacing, reduced-motion behaviour and an inventory of looping animation.
- Text contrast measured from rendered pixels over gradients, images and blurred backgrounds on 28 representative pages covering every template.
- Manual keyboard testing of the Products menu, mobile menu, site search, FAQ, pricing controls, resource filters, carousels, the contact form and the Pause animations control.
- Visual review of components with text spacing applied.
- No screen reader software was used for this report.

Summary
Of 56 Level A and AA success criteria in WCAG 2.2 (with 4.1.1 reported for WCAG 2.0 and 2.1): 44 Supports, 1 Partially Supports, 0 Does Not Support and 11 Not Applicable.
Table 1: Success Criteria, Level A
| Criteria | Conformance Level | Remarks and Explanations |
|---|---|---|
| 1.1.1 Non-text Content (Level A) | Supports | Informative images have text alternatives; logos are named; decorative images, icons and the footer watermark are hidden from assistive technology. |
| 1.2.1 Audio-only and Video-only (Prerecorded) (Level A) | Not Applicable | The website contains no prerecorded audio-only or video-only content. |
| 1.2.2 Captions (Prerecorded) (Level A) | Not Applicable | The website contains no prerecorded video with audio. Video listings show sample cards only. |
| 1.2.3 Audio Description or Media Alternative (Prerecorded) (Level A) | Not Applicable | No prerecorded synchronised media. |
| 1.3.1 Info and Relationships (Level A) | Supports | Landmarks (header, navigation, main, footer), headings, lists, data tables with header cells, and labelled form fields are marked up. Resource listing pages place card titles (H3) directly under the page H1; this is a heading-order refinement, not a loss of structure. |
| 1.3.2 Meaningful Sequence (Level A) | Supports | Reading and focus order follow the visual order on all 65 pages. |
| 1.3.3 Sensory Characteristics (Level A) | Supports | Instructions do not rely on shape, size, position or sound. |
| 1.4.1 Use of Color (Level A) | Supports | Links in text are underlined or otherwise distinguished. Contact form errors are shown in text as well as colour (fixed during this audit). |
| 1.4.2 Audio Control (Level A) | Not Applicable | No audio plays automatically. |
| 2.1.1 Keyboard (Level A) | Supports | Navigation, the Products menu, mobile menu, search, FAQ, pricing toggles and plan choices, resource filters, carousels and the contact form work with the keyboard. The Products menu previously could not be closed with Escape (fixed during this audit). |
| 2.1.2 No Keyboard Trap (Level A) | Supports | Focus can always move away; menus and search close with Escape and return focus to their button. |
| 2.1.4 Character Key Shortcuts (Level A · WCAG 2.1) | Supports | Search opens with Ctrl+K or Cmd+K only. A single-key "/" shortcut was removed during this audit. |
| 2.2.1 Timing Adjustable (Level A) | Not Applicable | No time limits are set. |
| 2.2.2 Pause, Stop, Hide (Level A) | Supports | Looping decorative motion stops when the operating system requests reduced motion, and a Pause animations control is in the footer of every page (added during this audit). There is no auto-updating content. |
| 2.3.1 Three Flashes or Below Threshold (Level A) | Supports | Nothing flashes more than three times per second. |
| 2.4.1 Bypass Blocks (Level A) | Supports | Every page starts with a working "Skip to content" link and uses landmarks. |
| 2.4.2 Page Titled (Level A) | Supports | Every page has a unique, descriptive title. |
| 2.4.3 Focus Order (Level A) | Supports | Focus order is logical. The closed search field was reachable by keyboard while invisible (fixed during this audit). |
| 2.4.4 Link Purpose (In Context) (Level A) | Supports | Link text, or text with its context, describes the destination; links that open a new tab say so. |
| 2.5.1 Pointer Gestures (Level A · WCAG 2.1) | Supports | Carousels that can be dragged also have previous and next buttons and scroll normally. |
| 2.5.2 Pointer Cancellation (Level A · WCAG 2.1) | Supports | Actions run on release (standard click), not on press. |
| 2.5.3 Label in Name (Level A · WCAG 2.1) | Supports | Accessible names contain the visible label. Contact desk links whose names used "and" where the label shows "&" were corrected during this audit. The + and − pass buttons are symbols with descriptive names. |
| 2.5.4 Motion Actuation (Level A · WCAG 2.1) | Not Applicable | No function is triggered by device motion. |
| 3.1.1 Language of Page (Level A) | Supports | Every page declares lang="en-GB". |
| 3.2.1 On Focus (Level A) | Supports | Receiving focus does not change context. The Products menu no longer opens on focus alone (changed during this audit). |
| 3.2.2 On Input (Level A) | Supports | Changing a control (plan choice, billing period, topic select, filters) updates content in place without a change of context. |
| 3.2.6 Consistent Help (Level A · WCAG 2.2) | Supports | The contact route and the published email addresses appear in the same place on every page. |
| 3.3.1 Error Identification (Level A) | Supports | A field left empty or invalid shows a written message linked to the field and is marked invalid (added during this audit). |
| 3.3.2 Labels or Instructions (Level A) | Supports | All form fields have visible labels; required fields are marked and the message length is stated. |
| 3.3.7 Redundant Entry (Level A · WCAG 2.2) | Not Applicable | There is no multi-step process that asks for the same information twice. |
| 4.1.1 Parsing (Level A) | Supports | For WCAG 2.0 and 2.1 this criterion is always satisfied for HTML under the W3C errata. It is obsolete and removed in WCAG 2.2. |
| 4.1.2 Name, Role, Value (Level A) | Supports | Buttons, menus, toggles, radios, disclosure widgets and form fields expose name, role and state. Corrected during this audit: the Products menu state, a results list announced as a listbox that held links, and three containers that carried a label without a role. |
Table 2: Success Criteria, Level AA
| Criteria | Conformance Level | Remarks and Explanations |
|---|---|---|
| 1.2.4 Captions (Live) (Level AA) | Not Applicable | The website has no live audio or video. |
| 1.2.5 Audio Description (Prerecorded) (Level AA) | Not Applicable | No prerecorded video. |
| 1.3.4 Orientation (Level AA · WCAG 2.1) | Supports | Content works in portrait and landscape. |
| 1.3.5 Identify Input Purpose (Level AA · WCAG 2.1) | Supports | Name and email fields declare autocomplete purposes. |
| 1.4.3 Contrast (Minimum) (Level AA) | Supports | Text meets 4.5:1 (3:1 for large text), checked with axe on all pages and by pixel sampling over gradients and images on 28 representative pages. Fixed during this audit: status labels in orange on the legal pages, Trust Center and page index, and primary button text on two resource pages that rendered grey on Teal Black. The large "cRUD" footer watermark is decorative and exempt. |
| 1.4.4 Resize Text (Level AA) | Supports | Text resizes to 200% without loss of content; layouts reflow. |
| 1.4.5 Images of Text (Level AA) | Supports | Only logos are images of text. |
| 1.4.10 Reflow (Level AA · WCAG 2.1) | Supports | All pages reflow at 320 CSS pixels without horizontal scrolling, except data tables, which scroll within their own container. Four legal pages widened because long page titles in the breadcrumb and long web addresses did not wrap (fixed during this audit). |
| 1.4.11 Non-text Contrast (Level AA · WCAG 2.1) | Supports | Form field boundaries, buttons and focus indicators meet 3:1 against adjacent colours. |
| 1.4.12 Text Spacing (Level AA · WCAG 2.1) | Partially Supports | With WCAG text spacing applied, content and functions remain available. Two places shorten text by design and shorten it further: the single-line section titles in the legal "On this page" list (the full title is the linked heading) and the three-line summaries on related-article cards (the full summary is on the article). |
| 1.4.13 Content on Hover or Focus (Level AA · WCAG 2.1) | Supports | The Products menu and search results can be dismissed with Escape, stay open while hovered and remain until dismissed. |
| 2.4.5 Multiple Ways (Level AA) | Supports | Navigation, site search on every page and a page index. |
| 2.4.6 Headings and Labels (Level AA) | Supports | Headings and labels describe their topic or purpose. |
| 2.4.7 Focus Visible (Level AA) | Supports | Every focusable element shows a focus indicator. Added during this audit for resource cards, carousels, the resource filter fields and the open search bar. |
| 2.4.11 Focus Not Obscured (Minimum) (Level AA · WCAG 2.2) | Supports | The fixed header does not hide focused elements. |
| 2.5.7 Dragging Movements (Level AA · WCAG 2.2) | Supports | Anything that can be dragged also has single-pointer buttons. |
| 2.5.8 Target Size (Minimum) (Level AA · WCAG 2.2) | Supports | Targets are at least 24 by 24 CSS pixels or have sufficient spacing; inline links in text are exempt. |
| 3.1.2 Language of Parts (Level AA) | Supports | Content is in English; no passages in other languages. |
| 3.2.3 Consistent Navigation (Level AA) | Supports | Header, footer and navigation come from shared templates and are identical on every page. |
| 3.2.4 Consistent Identification (Level AA) | Supports | Components with the same function have the same names across pages. |
| 3.3.3 Error Suggestion (Level AA) | Supports | Error messages say how to fix the field, for example the email format or the remaining message length. |
| 3.3.4 Error Prevention (Legal, Financial, Data) (Level AA) | Not Applicable | The website takes no purchases, payments or legal commitments. The contact form sends a message only. |
| 3.3.8 Accessible Authentication (Minimum) (Level AA · WCAG 2.2) | Not Applicable | The website has no sign-in. "Sign in" links to the cRUD Webinar application, which is outside this report. |
| 4.1.3 Status Messages (Level AA · WCAG 2.1) | Supports | Form send results, filter counts, price changes and search result counts are announced without moving focus. Search announcements were added during this audit. |
Table 3: Success Criteria, Level AAA
Level AAA was not evaluated.
Issues fixed during this evaluation
| Issue | WCAG | Fix |
|---|---|---|
| Products menu could not be closed with Escape; it opened on focus alone | 2.1.1, 3.2.1, 4.1.2 | Opens with Enter, Space or pointer; Escape closes it and returns focus. |
| Closed search field was focusable while invisible, on every page | 2.4.3, 2.4.7 | Removed from the tab order while closed; the open bar shows a focus ring. |
| Single-key "/" search shortcut | 2.1.4 | Removed; Ctrl+K or Cmd+K remains. |
| Search results list used a listbox role around links and was not announced | 4.1.2, 4.1.3 | Plain labelled region with a polite status line for result counts and the current result. |
| Contact form errors shown only as a red outline | 1.4.1, 3.3.1, 3.3.3 | Written message under each field, linked with aria-describedby and aria-invalid. |
| No focus indicator on resource cards, carousels and filter fields | 2.4.7 | Visible outline on keyboard focus. |
| Orange status text at 3.6 to 4.0:1 on its tinted background | 1.4.3 | Darkened to pass 4.5:1 on legal banners, Trust Center tags and the page index. |
| Four legal pages scrolled sideways at 320 px because breadcrumb titles and long web addresses did not wrap | 1.4.10 | Both wrap. |
| Primary "Get started" button text grey on Teal Black (2.8:1) on two resource pages | 1.4.3 | White text restored. |
| Looping decorative animation with no pause other than the operating-system setting | 2.2.2 | Pause animations control in every footer; still off entirely under reduced motion. |
| Unavailable "Register" and "Download PDF" buttons could receive focus | 2.4.3 | Removed from the tab order while unavailable. |
| Three containers carried a label without a role | 4.1.2 | Given the region role. |
| Contact desk link names did not start with the visible label | 2.5.3 | Names now begin with the visible text. |
Known limitations and next checks
- Text spacing (1.4.12): the legal "On this page" titles and related-article summaries truncate by design. Allowing them to wrap would move the rating to Supports.
- No screen reader software was used; names, roles and states were verified programmatically and by keyboard. A screen reader pass (NVDA or VoiceOver) is the next check.
- A separate report is needed for the cRUD Webinar application; this report covers the website only.
